What Scott says

So you have a story in your head. The story in your head is that yourself is real, that it is independent of all things, that it is a permanent thing. It goes through changes, but it is basically you, right? And then test it and see, okay, is it true, right?

Is it true that this is who I am, that this is the story of me, right? Why is it that when I have been given positive feedback or compliments? I don't believe it and I still feel bad. But when I see other people do well and I give them compliments, I think that they should feel good.

Oh, that's interesting. You see, there's a gap in the story, right? Or why is the story like if I give 100% and am successful and get an A on the paper, then I will be happy. And I give 100%, I get an A on the paper and I'm only happy for about 30 minutes and then I'm not happy anymore.

So now we just found a hole in my story of myself. You see? And you begin to kind of just investigate into it. See, okay, well, this is a story.

Let's see. Is it true? Is it true that, you know, this is this and this is this? And then you begin to find all these little holes or inconsistencies in the story of what you are, who you are.

And then as you develop that more and more, eventually what will happen is there's so many holes in the story of yourself that the whole thing will just kind of fall down like a whole house of cards, right? And then you'll have an awakening. you
