Why you can't just drop a story

But if you go and you just try to drop the attachment while there's still a strong momentum of a negative attachment, meaning we have a negative story about it, what happens is the negative story keeps its momentum, and then we're not any better.

What Scott says

But if you go and you just try to drop the attachment while there's still a strong momentum of a negative attachment, meaning we have a negative story about it. what happens is the negative story keeps us momentum, and then we're not any better So, often what we need to do is actually create a positive attachment or a positive judgment to counteract the negative. So, we add a new pattern, a positive pattern in there, and then they kind of fight each other a little bit, and that causes the momentum of the negative one to go down.

And then, once that falls away, you can feel it in your body like, oh, it's quite easy now. I don't need to have this positive pattern. And since that's a newly created positive pattern, you can let that go very easily. And now you have no patterns, and it's just your natural state of being, which naturally embraces whatever arises.
