The false self is the mechanism of addiction
we are addicted to having a false self, and the false self is also the mechanism of addiction.
What Scott says
we are addicted to having a false self, and the false self is also the mechanism of addiction. I think in a large way, humanity and humans, the self itself, the this the separate self is a is a product of addiction. Um, or or or is the addiction. It's kind of one of those things where you don't know which came first, but it's both we are addicted to having a false self, and the false self is also the mechanism of addiction.
So, for example, the separate self forms around our core wound of unworthiness or not includ not feeling included or not feeling loved or not not being fully accepted or seen. So, everybody has a core wound that presents in the body as a somatic pain, something that we know that we don't want to know, something that we're always running from, we're always avoiding, that we're scared of. Uh the thing that we become aware of when we try to fall asleep at night but we can't sleep, the thing that we're aware of when all of our addictions and attachments fall away, the thing that arises and transitions.
Often it's experienced as a sense of emptiness or loneliness in the body. sometimes emptiness in the chest, sometimes emptiness in the abdomen
