I cannot help but be hurt when the world hurts

The world is broken, and as the world breaks, so does my heart. As I am the world, and the world is me. I cannot help but be hurt when the world hurts. I cannot help but feel sad when my brother feels sad.

I cannot help to be in pain when my sister suffers. We are all so interconnected, it is beyond any one of our comprehension the depth and breadth and complexities of our interconnected, woven lives. If we fiercely allow ourselves to feel our open heart, feel the heartbreak, and feel the sensitivity of our soul to the world and to our fellow brothers and sisters, then we know that the world is broken. That we must heal ourselves and heal our communities so that we can then all heal the world.
