What Scott says

meditation doesn't work for me. I feel worse. That's fair. A lot of people feel worse.

There's a lot of research studies that show that you feel worse when you start meditating, not better. The reason for that is because meditation gives you increased awareness. And increased awareness, you're just going to become more aware of whatever was going on in your mind and your body. So if you actually already were unhappy, but you were avoiding it or not that aware of it, then when you learn to meditate, initially you will feel worse, right?

So increased awareness and increased self-love leads to healing. Increased awareness without increased self-love leads to increased suffering because you are now even more aware of your own neuroses. And those neuroses then just become even more neurotic because you're aware of the fact that of how anxious you are, yet you don't have the solution, you don't have the self-love to heal those neuroses of those anxieties.
