You are the wave and the field
Your sensitivity is a strength!
What Scott says
Your emotional sensitivity is one of your greatest gifts. If we allow our emotional sensitivity to control us, then it becomes one of our greatest weaknesses. Once we recognize that we are not the emotions moving through our chest and abdomen, but rather we are the alive field that gives birth and catches those emotions when they disperse or return home, we are part of the emotional wave, but it is not all of us. We are actually the grounded observer viewing the emotional wave and the wave itself.
And when we embrace our emotional sensitivity, meaning we track the formation of the emotion, say the emotion of sadness, from a zero to a one to a two to a three to a four all the way to a six, then we regulate that emotion. And that emotion does not control us, but rather we relate to it and we maintain our own sense of power, autonomy and agency as the emotion develops. And thus we use our emotional sensitivity as a tool to catch the formation and development of the emotion early on and thus track it. Thus making us more regulated, not less, and turning our vulnerability or weakness of emotional sensitivity into a strength.
We'll see you next time.
