Anxiety isn't bad either

Figure out a way to work with the expectations, not pretend like they're not there.

What Scott says

figure out a way to work with the expectations not pretend like they're not there. In an ideal world, we go into a situation with no expectation or no attachment to expectations. But depending on what you're doing and how hard it is and where you are in your current level of healing and attachment, it's not always the case. So you have to adapt to figure out a way to work with the expectations if they're already there, not pretend like they're not there.

You wouldn't have an experience if they weren't there. I wouldn't be anxious about doing the first sat song if I didn't have expectation. That anxiety is based on all of my resolved and unresolved and partially resolved experiences of doing groups and public speaking and forgetting lines and plays and blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. Right.

So there's all this momentum. So to think that the first time I go and do that, I'm not going to have any anxiety is crazy. That would mean I'm repressing it. But to think that it is somehow bad is also crazy.

It was bad when I was 10 and 15 and it caused me to forget the lines to the school play and freeze on stage. That was bad. But whatever age it was, you know, that's not who I am so yeah it's uncomfortable and more difficult and might make it harder to sleep at the end of the night but probably not that big of a deal I've had it a bunch of times and almost every time I've had it I've been able to speak. One time I didn't couldn't speak, but that actually went fine too.

Yeah, you're holding your hand through it. You know, you have to kind of scaffold your way through it. You're bringing one part that understands it's okay and allowing the other part that's anxious to be there and at the same time.
