Meditation is a paradox
How do you have a very strong intention, presence, direction without leaving where you are?
What Scott says
So, how do you have a very strong intention, presence, direction without leaving where you are? You know, with meditation in general, we are, you know, it's paradoxical in nature. so, with meditation, the key with meditation, quality, high-quality meditation, is you want to have a very strong, focused, powerful intention, right, and presence. So, how do you have a very strong intention, presence, direction without leaving where you are?
It's a paradox, right? Because the tendency of a direction or intention is to move towards something or out of out from somewhere else. And so, if we lean too far towards the directive side, then we get into controlling. And when we're controlling, then we're unable to surrender and relax and access deep meditative states.
And if we are completely surrendered with no intention, then we can get lost in the spaciousness or the ephemeralness or the kind of spiritual aspect, but we're not actually making contact with our humanness and what's really going on. And so, effective, powerful meditation is always a holding of the paradox of being human and spirit at the same time,
