The Buddha stepped on a thorn
Right, like so for example, like in Buddhism or like the Buddha, there's some famous quote that they said, the Buddha stepped on a thorn and then was saying, like, I'm gonna cover the world in, you know, I don't know, wood or something, so I don't step on thorns.
What Scott says
Right? Like, so for example, like in Buddhism or like the Buddha, there's some famous quote that they said, the Buddha stepped on a thorn and then was saying, like, I'm going to cover the world in, you know, I don't know, wood or something, so I don't step on thorns. But then he realized he just had to cover his feet in wood and make shoes, and then he wouldn't step on thorns, right? And so what it's suggesting is we don't need to fix everything or change everything.
All we need to change is the part of us, right, that is interfacing with things. That relational part needs to change. And so that's what inquiry is about. It's about changing the way that we relate to our own unconsciousness and our own repressed material.
